A teacher is someone who succeeds against all odds.......

 'Hichki' meaning 'Hiccup's ' is a 2018 movie which is an adaptation of Brad Cohen's 2005 autobiography 'Front of the Class :How Tourette Syndrome Made Me The Teacher I Never Had'. The film has Rani Mukherji in the lead role of an aspiring teacher having Tourette Syndrome, who must prove herself by educating a group of underprivileged students.

(TOURETTE SYNDROME :is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that begins in childhood or adolescence)

In the film a teacher Naina Mathur who has a B. Ed and M. Sc, cannot obtain a teaching job due to her Tourette Syndrome which causes uncontrollable sounds likened to hiccups. Despite facing many rejections from teaching profession her mother and brother backs her up unlike her father who does not value his daughter.

She lands in her dream job in one of the elite school of the city who accepts even knowing her weakness and gives her 9F class which comprises of defiant and impish students. The story revolves on how she manages to make her students one of the best in the school from dejections. She teaches using daily activities which the students take up seriously and they realise their true potential due to Naina.

The students pass out in flying colours and she gets acceptance from her father whom had been neglecting her for a long time.

In the climax, she retires as the principal of the school and her first batch 9F students come to join her.

WHAT THE FILM CONVEYS..........

The movie has the message of turning you weaknesses into strength. Despite being from odds you still survive in this competitive world with determination and commitment.

And the most important thing, a teacher can lead you towards light from darkness.
